Discovering South Florida: Bedner’s Farm Market, A Unique Roadside Attraction

Vacationing and/or living in sunny South Florida is more than spending your days enjoying miles of gorgeous sandy beaches and crystal clear blue waters.  To truly enjoy South Florida, spend a bit of time discovering its hidden gems and unique attractions the average tourist and resident might overlook.  I recently had the opportunity to visit a rural and rustic gem, tucked away in the western agriculture area of Palm Beach County, and one of the best farm stands and road side attractions in South Florida — Bedner’s Farm Fresh Market.

A trip to this little road side attraction offers visitors more than quality fresh produce and specialty foods, Bedner’s is simply good ‘ole fashioned farm-friendly fun and lazy country days from years past. The heart of Bedner’s Farm Fresh Market is its country style store which is filled with the most amazing freshly-picked, brightly-colored fruits and vegetables, displays of locally produced specialty goods and beautiful fresh cut flowers.  The quality and selection of food alone is worth the drive from anywhere in South Florida, but what makes Bedner’s a destination worth the visit is what lies beyond their market.

One of Bedner’s main attractions, drawing visitors from all over Palm Beach County, is their U-Pick fields.  Depending upon the growing season, visitors will have the opportunity to pick red peppers, green peppers, English peas, cucumbers, sunflowers, tomatoes, cherry tomatoes and sweet red strawberries.

The area between the fresh market store and the U-pick fields contains unique recycled metal art displays, corn hole and water pump race games, a gem stone mining display and selfie photo stops.  On weekends visitors, will find vendors selling food, snacks, beverages and unique gift items.

Bedner’s also has an exotic petting zoo, pony rides, camel rides, bounce house and air canon game that will entertain children of all ages.

After working up an appetite, stop by the BBQ stand and pavilion for a delicious mouth-watering lunch or take out to go.  Pulled pork, chicken, brisket, ribs, country-style side dishes, and sweet iced tea, will have you coming back for more.

Ready to visit?  Bedner’s Farm Fresh Market is open 7 days a week and is located on State Road 7 (US 441) between West Boynton Beach Blvd. and West Atlantic Blvd.  For more information, click here for a link to their website.
